- The Pentagon has given $1.2 million to a Georgia Tech spinoff company to turn that futuristic concept into reality. The idea came from Steve Dickerson, founder and chief technology officer for Softwear Automation and Woodruff School Professor Emeritus.
- Congratulations to Dr. Sheldon Jeter and his team for winning a SunShot Concentrator Solar Power (CSP) Research and Development Award on his work in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories.

- NSF Research Solicitation of Interest to Heat Transfer Community. Full proposals are due June 3 - July 3.
- The Northeastern University ADVANCE Program is offering two Future Faculty Workshops, designed for graduating Ph.D.'s and postdoctoral scholars interested in faculty positions in science, engineering or mathematics, on June 21 (in the field of dynamically systems) and July 8 (in the fields of civil, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering).
- Funding opportunities from the Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP). Deadline for submission is July 3.
- The Fulbright Scholar Program Competition is open. The applications deadline is August 1.
- DARPA is looking at the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) process for possible selection of it research efforts. The deadline for abstracts/proposals is August 9.
- Would you like to teach courses at Vietnamese universities? A call for applications 2013-14 U.S. Faculty Scholar Grants is now open.
- ASME is announcing the establishment of the Haythornthwaite Research Initiation. The grant program is targeting university faculty engaged in research in theoretical and applied mechanics.
- Register now for the 15th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education, Globalizing Across the Curriculum. Held November 1-3 in Newport Rhode Island.
- Sandia National Laboratories is accepting applications for the President Harry S. Truman Fellowship in National Security Science & Engineering. This is a thre-year appointment allowing recipients to pursue independent research that supports Sandia's national security mission. Applications are due November 1.
