What is your connection to Georgia Tech?
I received a master's (2001) and a Ph.D. (2003) in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. Since I’m in the Atlanta area, it’s been great to stay connected to GT through the ME Advisory Board and other activities. My husband, Jason (MSME 98, PhD Arch 10), and I also support GT through our endowment funds.
What is your current professional role? Please list a few notable career accomplishments.
I am the Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs at MiMedx Group, Inc.
Some of my notable career accomplishments include:
- I’ve supported the launch of numerous medical products worldwide, enabling access to life-changing treatments for millions of patients.
- I was honored as one of the top 25 women leaders in medical devices in 2021.
- I hold numerous U.S. and international patents from my work at MiMedx.
Why are you passionate about WoW?
Even with all of the existing support from GT and the Woodruff School, getting through a degree program can be tough. Anything WoW can do to help support this community is an effort well spent. WoW is made up of amazing alumni, friends, and family of the Woodruff School who are driven to support the exceptional students, faculty, and staff, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
What are your hobbies and passions?
I love traveling, gardening, and spending time with my family, especially if it’s outside. I’ve recently added real estate investing (out-of-state historical districts - I like a challenge!) and art classes (pencil, ink, and watercolor).
What is your favorite quote?
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
What advice would you give a young female engineer?
Never give up. You’ll find the solution eventually. Sometimes you just need to sleep on it or let the problem simmer for a while. The path to the solution may not be what you initially envisioned, but you’ll get there!
