Five faculty members in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology have been recognized with promotions for their achievements in research, teaching, and service, effective August 15, 2026.

Hailong Chen, Seung-Kyum Choi, and Aaron Young have been promoted to professor, while Anirban Mazumdar and Sourabh Saha have been promoted to associate professor with tenure.

“These promotions are a testament to their hard work, exceptional contributions, and unwavering commitment to excellence in both research and teaching,” said Carolyn Seepersad, Eugene C. Gwaltney, Jr. School Chair and professor.

Faculty promotions recognize sustained impact in scholarship, teaching, and service to the Institute and broader academic community. The newly promoted faculty members have each made meaningful contributions to advancing research and educating the next generation of engineers at Georgia Tech.

Seepersad also thanked the faculty members who served on the First Area and Review, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) committees, noting that their time and dedication were essential to the success of the process.
