Background

Justin Roper, Ph.D. ,DABR, joined the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Emory School of Medicine in August 2012. In 2010, Dr. Roper received his Ph.D. from Duke University where he investigated single photon emission computed tomography for biological imaging onboard radiation therapy machines. This research was supported in part by a pre-doctoral award from the U.S. Department of Defense and a traineeship from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. He completed residency training in the CAMPEP accredited medical physics residency at Duke University Medical Center. He is broadly interested in the use of imaging to guide and evaluate radiation therapy, and in particular, functional and molecular imaging because of the potential to design treatments based on the biology of cancer and normal tissues. Dr. Roper is board certified in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology. He is adjunct faculty in the Nuclear and Radiological Engineering and Medical Physics Programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology and is involved in teaching physician and physics residents at Emory.
