Join us on Monday, April 3, 2023, to hear Woodruff School graduate Nicholas Selby (BS ME '16) deliver a talk titled, “Building Solar Mini-Grids in Rural Africa." Selby is a 2023 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and is the Director of Engineering at Renewvia Energy, one of the largest builders and operators of standalone minigrid systems throughout Africa, supplying remote and rural communities with precious power. The ME Shaping the World Speaker Series is part of the Woodruff School Connections program.


Bio

Nick is the Director of Engineering at Renewvia Energy. He is responsible for the design, procurement, construction, productive use, and software infrastructure of solar minigrids in rural Kenya and Nigeria. He has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.S. in mechanical engineering from MIT, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT. He has worked as a research engineer for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories.
