Brittany Powell
What is your connection to Georgia Tech?
I graduated in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in the Denning Technology & Management Program.
During my time at Georgia Tech, I served as the President of Omicron Delta Kappa, was a member of the Ramblin’ Reck Club, and ran two years of Division I Cross Country and Track.
What is your current professional role? Please list a few notable career accomplishments.
I am a Mechanical Engineer at Microsoft working on hardware products.
- Before starting my current role, I graduated with a Master of Engineering Degree from the University of California Berkeley with a concentration in product design.
- Have gained industry experience in aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, and the energy industries through internships with companies including Microsoft, Tesla, and Keysight Technologies.
Why are you passionate about WoW?
I am grateful for the strong community of family, friends, teachers, and mentors that helped me navigate earning an engineering degree at Georgia Tech. By getting involved in WoW, I would like to give back to the Georgia Tech community and connect with other women in the Woodruff School.
What are your hobbies and passions?
I enjoy triathlon (recently competed in the Half Ironman World Championships), skiing, hiking, and traveling.
What advice would you give a young female engineer?
Take as many hands-on opportunities as possible to learn about different types of engineering roles and industries.
