Teaching Interests
Professor Nabavi’s teaching focuses on core topics in mechanical and materials engineering at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including design for manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, mechanics of materials, additive manufacturing, material selection and functionality, and process modeling. Her instruction integrates fundamental theory with process-level decision-making, emphasizing how material behavior, geometry, and manufacturing constraints interact to influence performance and quality. Through structured lectures, examinations, and research-informed discussions, Professor Nabavi fosters analytical engineering thinking and practical competence to prepare students for advanced problem-solving in modern manufacturing environments.
Research Interests
Professor Nabavi’s research centers on additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence–driven modeling, and process innovation in advanced manufacturing systems. Her work investigates additive manufacturing processes by examining material behavior, optimizing processing strategies, and integrating multifunctional capabilities into the design framework through physics-informed and data-driven approaches. Her research aims to advance high-performance, intelligent engineering applications while strengthening the synergy between experimental validation, computational modeling, and AI-enabled predictive design for the co-design of materials, processes, and multifunctional components.
