Professional Summary
Ruoyu Yang is an academic professional in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In this position, he is responsible for teaching and infusing artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics into the core curriculum, including developing software and projects for the instructional curriculum.
He earned both his Ph.D. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University at Buffalo. His research centers on the development of novel AI and machine learning algorithms for smart manufacturing and digital design, with emphasis on material inverse design, defect diagnostics and prognostics, manufacturing process monitoring, and parameter optimization.
Prior to joining Georgia Tech, Yang worked at Clemson University’s Watt Family Innovation Center and Department of Automotive Engineering, serving as a research associate in Machine Learning, Research Assistant, and Postdoctoral Fellow from 2020 to 2026.
