Teaching Interests
Professor Hatzell’s teaching interests include core materials science and engineering principles at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She emphasizes energy storage materials, sustainable materials engineering, and electrochemical systems. Professor Hatzell actively involves students in laboratory and research settings to enhance learning through hands-on experiences and critical analysis.
Research Interests
Professor Hatzell’s research focuses on developing sustainable energy storage materials and systems, with an emphasis on electrochemical technologies. Her work explores ion transport, electrode design, and the integration of earth-abundant materials for improved performance and durability. Research directions include fundamental studies of material interfaces, characterization of battery chemistries, and advancing electrochemical methods to support scalable energy storage solutions.
