Education
- Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2011
- M.S., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2008
- B.S., Oregon State University, 2006
Teaching Interests
Professor Erickson's teaching interests encompass core mechanical engineering subjects with emphasis on biomechanics and experimental methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She integrates interdisciplinary approaches to address biological and mechanical system interactions, fostering student engagement through hands-on laboratory experiences and critical analysis of biomechanical phenomena.
Research Interests
Professor Erickson's research centers on experimental biomechanics and mechanobiology, focusing on the mechanical behavior of biological tissues and cells. Her work investigates cellular mechanotransduction pathways and the influence of mechanical forces on tissue development and disease progression, employing quantitative imaging and biophysical techniques to understand complex biomechanical environments.
